Branding Communications for Adult Recreation in Patterson Park
Branding Communications for Adult Recreation in Patterson Park
Since the early 2000s, Baltimore's Patterson Park has served as an area in Baltimore City where private adult for-profit recreation leagues have prospered. While the original organization to solidify its place in providing adult recreation in the park was the Baltimore Sport and Social Club, additional for-profit leagues eventually sprouted to challenge the BSSC for market share in the rapidly-growing adult recreation landscape in Patterson Park (Sigmon, 2017). _x000D_

This presentation endeavors to examine the branding communications for each of the three major competing leagues in Patterson Park (the aforementioned Baltimore Sport and Social Club, The Kickball League of Baltimore, and Volo City) in the year 2018. This time period is specifically important to examine in the time period following a branding dispute between Baltimore Sport and Social Club and Volo City (formerly Baltimore Social), which eventually led to a Lanham Act lawsuit filed by Baltimore Sport and Social Club against Baltimore Social in 2016. Furthermore, this presentation will take a sharp focus in examining how the branding communications mesh with established Baltimore City ordinances regarding alcohol use in its public parks.
